Tax advisory grounded in an LLM in Tax from the University of Melbourne and several years of dedicated tax advisory practice at KPMG Jamaica.
Renée spent two years as In-House Counsel and Senior Associate at KPMG Tax Advisory in Kingston, Jamaica, where she researched and advised on the application of the Income Tax Act, the Customs Act, the Stamp Duty Act, the General Consumption Tax Act, relevant Orders, and other tax legislation.
She maintained the firm's in-house edition of updated tax legislation, including all new provisional orders, and provided tax advisory services concerning the tax implications of contracts and corporate group structures.
Renée has drafted objections and responses to audits and assessments to defend clients' tax positions, working with corporate clients across a range of industries.
She has represented organisations seeking to gain approval as registered charitable organisations under the Charities Act, guiding them through the application process and drafting supporting materials.
In addition to pure tax matters, Renée reviewed and negotiated firm contracts with KPMG's service suppliers and clients, and provided general in-house legal advice including miscellaneous advice on potential legal liability.
Her tax practice is underpinned by a Master of Laws in Tax from the University of Melbourne, obtained in 2015 — one of the leading LLM tax programmes in the Commonwealth, providing a strong comparative foundation across international tax principles.
Enquiries welcome on tax-advisory, contract-review and charitable-registration matters. Initial consultations available.
